The wheel below represents different aspects of our lives and who we are: Physically, Emotionally, Occupationally, Spiritually, Socially, and Intellectually. Below is a brief on how each area of our lives plays a role in our fulfillment of living a well-lived life.
Physical Wellness has to do with our body, healthy habits and good nutrition. It helps us to focus on a healthy quality of life and what we should do to maintain it. By making conscious decisions about our health it shows our ability to take charge of our health.
Emotional Wellness covers our feelings, reactions, emotions, and cognition. Through our emotions we experience feelings of joy, love, and sadness etc. It helps us to handle emotional challenges that we have in our lives.
Occupational Wellness deals with our skills and abilities, finances, how we harmonize between our occupation and other areas of wellness. It involves choosing a career or job that will not only pay us, but also bring us the fulfillment and meaning we desire in our lives.
Spiritual Wellness also focuses on meaning and what is most important to us in life (values). By establishing our values it helps us to have the peace and harmony we desire in life, so that we can live fulfilling lives. It also helps us discover meaning and purpose for living.
Social Wellness centers around relationships and how we interact and connect with each other as humans. It also covers how we relate to others through community, communication, and how we get along.
Intellectual Wellness deals with our ability to be open to new ideas and experiences in life, so that we can continue to grow. We use critical thinking, curiosity and creativity to continue our growth and fulfillment as life long learners.
